French Louis XV Style Sofa C. 1850 - $1,600 - (Richmond, VA)
A lovely Louis XV style French walnut sofa of moderate proportions and honest age. Dating from about 1850 it displays fine hand-carved details at the arms, shoulders, back crest and feet. Upholstered in a subtle gold tinged green velvet of perhaps 30 years of age it shows very little wear and only a couple of tiny stains that are scarcely noticeable. The wood patina is a warm brown which is contrasted by the delicate color of the fabric.The seat is strong and well-supported for maximum comfort, aided in part by a center back support member that many period sofas lack. it will seat three.Measure 72" wide, 23" deep seat at widest point, and 18" seat height from the floor. While we recommend picking it up here in Richmond, it can be shipped for around $500.
