Grueby Pottery 2 color matte green leaf & flower vase Arts & Crafts factory lamp - $8,795 - (Boston, MA)

Here is a very good Grueby Pottery leaf and trefoil flower vase/lamp base with 7 well tooled leaves around the bulbous bottom and 7 tri petal flowers on stems reaching to the rim of this hand thrown form. It is covered in a beautifully curdled deep matte green glaze with vibrant yellow flowers. Measuring 12 1/2 inches high and 8 1/4 inches in diameter at the widest point, it weighs a little over 9 lbs. The original paper label specifying the lamp configuration is on the bottom. It is in great condition with no chips or cracks, just the factory drill hole which has been restored, and a little run to the green over the flowers. Marked with the Grueby Pottery Boston USA die-stamp, a tiny fragment of the small round paper label and an incised WP for decorator Wilhelmina Post. A beautiful example of the quintessential Arts & Crafts New England art pottery.
