Antique JAPANESE Cup and Saucer - $25 - (Ukiah, CA)
Offered here today is an antique Japanese Cup and Saucer Set. As pictured together, it stands 2 3/4" tall: the cup alone is 2 1/2" with a diameter of 2". The Saucer is 3/4" high and 4" in diameter. The designs are classic with a group of women in one scene and a samurai warrior in the other. The painting is extra fine and richly decorated with gold...together with black, red and blue. The Cup is in perfect condition; the saucer has a tiny fleabite on the underside edge as shown in the last picture (it is VERY tiny). It is signed, as shown, in Japanese characters; no idea what it signifies. I am out of my field with this type of porcelain, but judging from the quality of the painting and the extra-thin EGGSHELL porcelain, I can imagine it being quite collectible.
