It has never been used as a fishing tackle box so it has never been exposed to those odor-causing contacts and it has not been exposed to days-long sunlight ultraviolet light which fades colors and weakens plastics. This has been a sewing supplies case in a private home. It has no wear marks and still appears as it did when first purchased. Sort of a modern US classic.
