Vintage Japanese Silk Brocade Crane and Pine Maru Obi - $90 - (New York, NY)

Japanese silk brocade maru obi, used as a sash for the kimono, a olive background with repeat design of white cranes in flight with pine trees, chrysanthemums, shell game boxes and misty clouds rendered in various green and metallic shades some of which are kinran (gold leaf paper threads). The brocade is continuous on the front and back. (SKU# NH22019) Condition: Three warp breaks in the silk on one side only at the same fold line about 1 inch long each and five smaller breaks along edge, otherwise fine condition. 13-1/8 in. wide x 152-1/4 in. long. 1lb. 7oz. Early 20th century.
