Impressive Antique Gilbert Standing Regulator #18 Hall Clock - $6,250 - (Waterbury, CT)

Up for sale is this gorgeous Gilbert standing regulator number 18. The clock has a 12in porcelain dial that is completely original and in perfect condition. Behind the dial is a 8 day time only weight driven movement that is extremely precise. The hands on the clock up appear to be original as well, although it is missing the second sleep hand. The clock has its original pendulum and weight which have been beautifully restored. Unfortunately the glass vials were broken at some point, but have been replaced with hand-blown vials that are filled with lead shot for counter weight and balance. But they could be emptied and filled with Mercury again if someone desired. The clock is currently running and keeps near-perfect time. The clock appears to show all of its original finish, which does reflect the expected signs of age in small knicks and dents and scratches throughout. But nothing more than the expected on an antique. But there is some finish loss at the edge where the door opens where it appears someone had taped it closed at some point. This clock is beautiful and comes directly out of a private collection.
