Niagara SPAR necklace varigated colors. - $45 - (Middleburgh, NY)

This is a 26" long necklace made of Niagara Spar and in pastel colors of blue, pink, green and pale yellow. Purchased at Niagara Falls in the 1950s. was also called petrified mist. Apparently now very rare. Niagara Span is a type of gypsum that was mined at the base of the Horseshoe Falls in the mid 1800s into the 1900s but the supply is gone and there is none left. All kinds of jewelry was fashioned from this calcite stone which was easy to carve. All from our personal collections, which I am now sharing with others who want them and will enjoy them.
