Antique Brittany, France 19th Century Armoire, Bed and Two Nightstands Antique Brittany, France 19th Century Armoire This style of hand crafted carved furniture is unique to the northwestern province of Brittany, France. The wood is chestnut. The figures depict the people of the region and their rustic culture. The era of production dates to 1870-1900. Our offering was purchased 60 years ago by an American military family while serving duty in France. It has been a treasure and source of joy and now it is time to share it with someone else who appreciates all things French and handcrafted. It is part of an April 2019 estate sale in Summerville, SC. The mirror is cracked. The interior shelves have been replace. The overall condition of the carving is very good. The armoire measures 59 1/2 X 94 X 19 3/4”. The bed measures 57 1/2 X 62”. Each nightstand measures 17 1/4 X 39 1/2 X 14 3/8”. One door needs adjusting on its’ hinge.
