Built this with 20-1000ohm 3W resistors based loosely on K4EAA's plans. He states "This one is conservatively designed for rigs that have power output levels up to 130W, such as the Kenwood hybrid lineup." My meter shows 49.1 ohms and the SWR lays flat when checked with a radio. I have used mine for over a year testing all kinds of CB, Export radios, small 250W amplifiers, AD203 Boards, 98VHP Boards, and a Rocket Box 450. It works like a champ and it looks brand new on the inside like I just built it. Floating in an Oil bath keeps the Resistors a lot cooler than if they were in thin air. You will need to fill it with about one quart of mineral Oil. (You cant ship them filled with oil) A note for later after you bought one : Ken states, The normal failure mode for resistors is to go UP in resistance value. If you think you have "fried your dummy," check it's resistance value - If it is much higher than 50 ohms, you have successfully cooked it. This dummy load will be very hard to destroy.
