Art Nouveau IE & C Japan Green & Embossed Gold Floral Bowl Plate Tray Set c1900 - $45 - (West Chester, PA)
Gorgeous I.E. & Co Japan hand painted set of 2 bowl and charger/tray plate. Lovely teardrop or almond shape, with art nouveau decorative elements. Raised moriage style raised gold floral details around edges and bottom of bowl. Bowl features a open handle. I'm thinking that this was either used as a sauce or gravy boat or it's also possible it could be used as a waste bowl for tea service. I.E. & Company operated from 1885-1925 and I would say this one is probably c1900 but I cannot be certain. Really pretty combination of mint green and gold. In good vintage condition with age appropriate wear. No cracks or chips. The charger plate has a few pinprick type marks that appear to be manufacturing defects in the glaze (probably an air bubble).
