Porcelain Early 19th C English Soft Paste Hand Painted Motto Large Mug - $25 - (Ripon, WI)

Offering a large 1840's Motto mug. It measures 4" tall and 4" across the top edge and the bottom and 5 1/4" with handle. It is English soft paste porcelain and entirely hand enameled with the motto in gold. It reads " The loss of gold is great The loss of time is more But losing Christ is such a lose so no man can restore." The motto is written with the 18th century F for the first s in loss. A castle scene on one side and a church scene on the other. Condition is excellent with no chips or cracks and no wear to the paint. A very rare example of early English porcelain. Unmarked but guaranteed to be as described and dated. Probably from the Staffordshire district in England.
