Primitive 1920s kitchen cabinet / cupboard from the Nevada High Desert - $199 - (Golconda, NV)
This cabinet is in the kitchen of a still-original Nevada high-desert house / shack. The house was likely built in about 1922, the free-standing cabinet probably site-built for the house at that time. The house is on what was the property of a tungsten ore processing plant in Golconda, Nevada. The plant played a vital role in World War II, producing the strategically-valuable elemental metal tungsten. Tungsten mines were located only a few miles to the east of the plant, and the railroad had a siding only yards from where the cabinet still stands. The house was likely occupied by a plant employee during and after the War. Evidence suggests that the house was abandoned in about 1955, and has been vacant ever since. The cabinet is very dirty, just as I found it. I can either clean it up before you arrive or leave it as-is if you prefer. Better photos will be available soon. Open-backed Dimensions: 86-1/4" High 55" Wide 23-1/4" deep (bottom section) 12-1/4" deep (upper section) The cabinet must be picked up here in Golconda, 15 miles east of Winnemucca.
