Exquisite Vintage 5" Bisque Lady Doll • 18 Century Style Hair & Swiss Dot Dress - $178 - (Deep Gap, NC)
This exquisite vintage doll is almost too wonderful to adequately describe. She is simply gorgeous. She stands just over five inches tall. Her hair appears to be real human hair and is intricately styled in 18th Century French coiffure with detailed French curls. Her head and upper torso are bisque. Her bisque arms and hands are connected at the shoulders with brass pin rather than gusset or stringing. We cannot remove the dress without damaging it, but the body and upper legs feel like stuffed cloth or leather. The lower legs are bisque, and the feet are in the shape of shoes, which are painted black. Her finely made 18th Century style dress is made of pale green dotted Swiss organza over a solid white petticoat. It has beautiful lace around the bust and over the shoulders around to the back. The form fitting bodice is tied at the waist with a light green ribbon. A dotted Swiss ruffle finishes the bottom of the dress as well as the petticoat. Underneath she is wearing solid white bloomers with lace ruffles at her ankles. Her facial features, including her eyes, are hand-painted and still very clear and beautiful. When examining her face with a jeweler's loupe, it is possible to see some minor crazing; but it is not visible to the naked eye. The doll comes with a vintage metal stand, which a previous owner has attached with tape to a circular wooden glass domed display. The doll has clearly been kept covered by the glass dome for years, as she is very clean. This rare beauty is looking for a new home.
