Katherine Dunham Signed & Inscribed Book - Journey to Accompong - RARE I'm pleased to offer this signed & inscribed book, Journey to Accompong, by Katherine Dunham, fresh from an important estate auction in Vancouver. It is inscribed to her friend Hugh Pickett (see below). I believe this book with a signature by Ms. Dunham is quite rare and have not seen another online. It has a dust jacket and was published by Harry Holt and Co. in 1946. Pictures inside are by Ted Cook. From Wikipedia:Katherine Dunham (June 22, 1909 – May 21, 2006) was an American dancer, choreographer, author, educator, and social activist. Dunham had one of the most successful dance careers in American and European theater of the 20th century, and directed her own dance company for many years. She has been called the "matriarch and queen mother of black dance". The book is in very good shape considering the age. The pages are all there. The pages do have toning and the dust jacket has some edge fraying & minor tears as shown. The dust jacket also has some light smudging. This item is from the estate of Hugh Pickett of Vancouver.
