Douglas Lapraik Sextant Brass 1850’s Hong Kong Shipping History - $1,250 - (Fort Worth, TX)

Douglas Lapraik Sextant Brass 1850’s Hong Kong Shipping History. Lapraik was Hong Kong’s first watchmaker (worth looking him up) and turned out some very fabulous pieces which are very sought after today. He eventually go into shipping and at one point owned a shipyard. I am not sure if this was manufactured by him or if it was made to be retailed in his store. This piece dates from around the 1850’s. There are two dates (1863 and 1883), written in pencil inside the box. This is an estate find and is coming to you in as found condition. I could not find any info or a similar sextant to compare it to for pricing. Please inspect all photos for condition. If you need additional photos, please ask, I will send them quickly. This piece seems to be in solid condition. It could use a good cleaning by someone who knows what they are doing. The metal is tarnished. The box has cracks in it. The green felt lining, inside the box, has big damage. The glass parts are cloudy. I think it has all the parts, but then again I’ve never had one before and sure never used one, so I can’t be sure. What is pictured is what you get. I believe this to be a rare piece and an important one to Hong Kong’s shipping history, don’t miss out. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.
