HERE is a genuine PENNSYLVANIA COLONIAL CURRENCY NOTE FOR 2 SHILLINGS 6 PENCE (1/2 Crown), dated April 3rd, 1772. [In sterling terms, 5 Shillings=1 Crown; 4 Crowns=1 Pound; 20 Shillings=1 Pound] Features vignette of Royal Pennsylvania Arms at left with motto "MERCY & JUSTICE". The back of the note shows a woodcut of a leaf (an anti-counterfeiting measure) and the words "To Counterfeit is DEATH" above and "Printed by D. HALL, and W. SELLERS. 1772." The wording on the front of the note is as follows: " Two Shillings and Six-pence. According to an Act of General Assembly ofPensilvania, passed in the Twelfth Year of the Reign of his Majesty GEORGE the Third. Dated the 3d Day of April, Anno Dom. 1772.
