Mini-Circuits Labs MIQC-895M I/Q Modulator (demod?) RF Part, NOS Development Brd - $25 - (Morehead, KY)
I made a development board for this part and mounted the RF component with SMA connectors for the LO input and RF In/Out. You are buying an assembled board. You can slip SMA's on the I & Q IF ports or use coaxial cables/ plain wires to attach the IF connections. The description below is for the RF part, now the hard work has been done for you. I plan to use a pair of these in my Communications classroom demos here at the Space Science Center. Very handy for tinkering with if you ever wanted to explore I/Q mod-demod systems. 900 MHz is an ISM band so you can do low level over the air testing. Two are shown for clarity, you are buying one. Here is a very interesting part made by Mini Circuits Labs, I/Q modulator type MIQC-895M, obviously made for the 900 MHz band, very complex and expensive part (cost 104.00 new!!) I have limited knowledge on the topic, but cannot see why it cant be used for a direct conversion receiver as well as the upconverter modulator for a transmitter. Has Lo in (860-900 MHz), two direct coupled IF ports, I&Q, DC-5 MHz bandwidth, and RF out! Since this is a passive part, why not use it for a downconverter as well! What it does is combine the LO quadrature splitter and RF in-phase splitter in a box with 2 very well matched double-balanced mixers. Nice for experimenting with signal generation! Quad coupler will limit bandwidth to over an octave or so, depending on what EVM you can tolerate or what degree of S/W correction you apply, and as phase relationship moves away from 90 degrees, there is a degradation of carrier suppression in the system, but I still think useful to 1000 MHz maybe a little higher, especially for ham work. Neat part! With data sheet, new old stock. Have fun! Please see my other stuff for more RF goodies and remember I will gladly combine items to save you shipping!
