DeLee Art Pottery Matching Pair Red & Black Mr. & Mrs. Skunk Vases c1940s For consideration is a pair of matching vintage pottery vases - Mr. and Mrs. Skunk - made by DeLee Art Pottery of California in the 1940s. Both are black and white with a high gloss finish and the areas of red on the hats was cold painted and has a matte shine. Obviously a matched set, Mrs. Skunk has red mittens to match her wide-brimmed spaghetti decorated hat and Mr. Skunk has a matching red bowler. Mr. Skunk stands 5¾ inches tall, 3 inches wide and 3½ inches deep. He still has his silver foil sticker across his tummy that reads “Mr. Skunk”, his tail is the vase opening and there are no other marks. Mrs. Skunk stands 5¾ inches tall, 4 inches wide and 4 inches deep. She is not marked and she has 2 vase openings – one in her hat and the other in her tail. Some of the spaghetti on Mrs. Skunk’s hat is chipped as is typical with that type of decoration. Both figurine vases have some paint flaking and crazing on the white areas (seen under magnification) and there are no nicks, chips, cracks, repairs or discoloration noted (see photos).
