RUSSIAN CALENDAR HOLDER WOOD & BRASS PLATE IMPERIAL EAGLE TEAR-OFF PAPER ca1900s - $275 - (New York, NY)
A handcrafted primitive calendar holder/plate, for a block/tear-off paper calendar. Shield-form wooden base with attached embossed brass which depicting a Russian "Double-Headed Eagle". You may see different colour of patina on photo #4 Brass part attached with a steel and brass nails. Looks that the original nails were made of steel, please see and inspect all photos. Made in Russia, sometime in 1890's.-1900's., or probably in Europe by Russian immigrants. (calendar holder was purchased about 25 years ago at Baltimore Antique Show from a British dealer.) Approx.: Height: 13-1/4in. (33.5cm.) Width: 7-1/8in. (18.3cm.) Thickness (wood): 3/16in. (5mm.) Weight (w/o calendar): 6.65 oz. (188.5 gr.)
