Grueby Pottery matte green 13" bulbous baluster leaf vase Arts & Crafts Boston - $6,995 - (Cambridge, MA)

Here is a large and beautiful Grueby Pottery bulbous bottle form vase with 10 sharply tooled leaves, covered in a bright, even, finely curdled matte green glaze. It measures 13 inches tall and 9 1/4 inches in diameter at the widest point. It is in great condition with only a lower side drill hole invisibly restored and no chips, cracks, or firing flaws. Marked with the Grueby Pottery Boston USA die-stamp, a con-joined RE for decorator Ruth Erickson, the small circular Grueby paper label, and another partial label which reads "Approved... the Society (of) Arts & Crafts" (presumably Boston). It weighs about 9 1/2 pounds. An excellent big form with great design from the quintessential Arts & Crafts New England art pottery.
