Here is a small vintage ceramic tray made in Japan depicting a Native American Indian paddling a canoe in a lake. The scene is somewhat non-North American as the trees look more Asian than ones in North America. Nonetheless, the piece means to portray the solitary Indian Chief paddling his canoe across a vast lake. The colors are soft with blue, pink, green, white, black and brown. There is scrolling around the edge and a gold line that follows the edge. The manufacterer’s mark is clearly printed on the bottom. It is 4 3/4” x 3 3/4” and 1/2” high. No doubt it would be called a pin dish and was used for holding such small items in the home many years ago.
