Wonderful find from estate of original owners family in Newburyport Massachusetts whose family had lived there since the mid 1800s. The original ancestor who bought the federal style house back then was a ship captain. I am not sure which generation this belonged to.Antique Domed Top style primitive folk art PAINTED WOOD BOX for pens or many other uses. The painted decoration is magnificent with maritime marine style stars, great color. Hinged top.Great maritime theme stars pattern with gold and white accents decoration. black and gold with deep marine blue base color. Quite heavy for its size which is 8" wide x 1 3/4" tall x 2" deep.The INNER DIMENSIONS of the box are 7" wide x 1 1/8" deep x 1" tallThe wood is mahogany. This displays beautifully and is also useful.Was carefully stored in estate of original owners family. Nice color, no damage, light wear here and there, typical to antique item, nice solid weight for size, good thickness to the wood. B-GRY-VACKD
