Vtg? German Wooden Box Gruesome Krampus Scene Carved in Top NO KEY - $42 - (Oxford, MI)

Very cool carved box, that I know very little about! I believe it is German made, but I'm unsure of the age. It has been suggested to me that the gruesome scene depicts Krampus, a Christmas German tradition - Santa visits the good kids and Krampus visits the bad.... Not sure if that is actually what this depicts, but I'd love a message if you happen to know more.... It has also been suggested that this might be a scene of Paganism, or Wiccan, but again...I have no way of confirming. it is very well done! measures 11.75" x 6.5" and is 2.75" in height. Unfortunately, I do not have the key....
