George Hardy Carved Shorebird Seabird 20" Tall Deer Isle Maine Folk Art - $500 - (South Portland, ME)

This is a shorebird or seabird carving, maybe a great blue heron, by George Hardy (1917-2003) of Deer Isle, Maine. It is in very good condition as shown, and stands over 20 inches tall. This is probably one of his later carvings. Hardy was self taught and not the most technical carver, but his work has has a sense of expression or movement that sets it apart.
