An original Dani tribe water container. The container is made from a hollowed out gourd. The container is decoratively wrapped in a natural hand weaved mesh and has a plug on the top. The Dani inhabit the Baliem Valley on New Guinea and weren't discovered by white explorers until the 1920s. This decorative and functional gourd was purchased from a Dani tribal member 25 years ago.
