Period Louis XV (pair) Fauteulin Chairs C 1750 - $1,500 - (Richmond, VA)
A lovely, structurally solid pair of French Louis XV unrestored Aubusson needlepoint fauteulin constructed of extremely heavy and dense Beechwood. Beautiful carved details in frame and cabriole legs. While there is significant wear and discoloration in the original fabric the chairs still retain enough of their functional and aesthetic qualities to not require upholstery replacement. At some time in the distant past the two castors that would have been on the front feet were replaced with masterly carved toes. There are no other signs of restoration and considering they are period 1750 chairs, they are in remarkable useable condition and surprisingly comfortable.Provenance: Tyreso Palace, Sweden. By descent, Marquis Claes Lagergren estate. Each chair measures: 35" back height, 20" seat height, 19" seat depth, 21" seat width.Delivery within 150 miles $75.00.
