GOLD TONE 5-STRING BOB CARLIN OPEN BACK BANJO OLD TIME SOUND BC-350 At the 2004 IBMA Fan Fest, Bob Carlin and Wayne met to discuss the possibilities of a signature model 12" openback banjo. The features requested by Bob were a 12" pot assembly, scooped ebony fingerboard, specific neck profile dimensions and a nut width of 1-3/8, a rolled brass tone ring, and a No Knot tailpiece. Bob personally made a trip to our Florida factory for the designing where Bob and Wayne discussed every possible specification and tested prototypes. Every detail was fine tuned. Decided features included a 12 Renaissance banjo head, the mock dowel stick/coordinator rod configuration, a custom headstock design with ebony overlay and recessed truss rod cover, the GT Master planetary tuners, and the hot dog armrest.
