VINTAGE NEW RETAIL BOX The Treasure Hunt PC MAC CD kids solve puzzles game The Treasure Hunt is an enchanting interactive children's story with a puzzle to be solved at the end of each chapter. Based on a book by Amanda Wood, the story is classic children's fare: a ship of pirate mice search for buried treasure, encountering adventures along the way. The beautifully reproduced watercolor illustrations and excellent audio (fine narration, original music, and ambient sounds) are reminiscent of high-quality video adaptations of classic stories. The story is longer and richer than most interactive children's storybooks -- 12 full chapters. At the end of each chapter, the mice consult a treasure map for clues. Your child helps the mice solve a puzzle, such as finding hidden objects in rocks or following the trail of tangled vines to see which one reaches the forest floor. It is necessary to solve the puzzle before moving on in the story. Once all the chapters have been read and all the puzzles completed, a secret word is revealed which can be used to dig up the buried treasure. Youngsters have several options with this program. They can choose to have the text of the story displayed on the screen as it is read -- very helpful for early readers. They can click on a particular chapter to hear it, but then they do not get to do the puzzle at the end, so it does not help with progressing through the story. Children can also select the 'Games' option, to just do the puzzles, but these do not vary from one time to the next. One additional activity is provided here: painting an object, such as a skeleton or parrot, and watching it animate in the colors you have chosen. Finally, a unique option is the "Bedtime Story" mode, intended to lull a young child to sleep. The entire story is read over and over, at a lower volume each time.
