Original pen & ink and colored artist's pencils artwork by Wallace Tripp.Framed and matted, overall size is 11 3/4" x 8". Sight size of artwork is approx. 5" x 9". Very clever and original one-of-a-kind take-off on follow the yellow brick road. Caption reads: "Farley, the yellow brick toad ... on the road to toadal recovery"with 2 signs reading "Hanover" and "This way to the I. V. League"(Hanover references Hanover, NH where Dartmouth Medical Center is located) Great vivid bright colors and great imaginative theme.Signed "Tripp" and personalized "M & W" (Marcy & Wally) with a heart, for an ill family friend. Wallace W. Tripp (1940-2018) was an American illustrator, anthologist and author. He was known for creating anthropomorphic animal characters of emotional complexity and for his great visual & verbal humor. He was one of the illustrators for the "Amelia Bedelia" series of children's books. He illustrated more than 40 books, including his own "Wallace Tripp's Wurst Seller". He also illustrated many greeting cards for the "Pawprints" line. Wally was born in Boston but grew up in rural N.H. and NYC. He attended the School of Fine Arts in Boston, Keene State College in NH, & studied English at UNH, teaching English for 3 years before choosing to devote himself to illustration full-time.
