Koamalu A Story Of Pioneers On Kauai By Ethel M. Damon 1931 - $70 - (Waukesha, WI)
Wow, do I ever wish I had Vol. 1 of this 2 set work on Hawaii. The only others on EBay are a set asking $995.00. Mine is obviously an ex-library book. The full title is Koamalu. A Story of Pioneers in Kauai and of What They Built in that Island Garden. By Ethel M. Damon Vol.2. Privately printed in Hawaii 1931. I found it in the discard pile at a resale store. Needless to say, I still had to purchase it. I had no idea it was so rare. As you can see it has some condition problems on the top edges of the front pages. See picture #3. The inside however is not so bad. Spine is nice and tight. Front and backboards are secure and not cracked at the seam. No missing or loose pages. There is some staining on the inside front cover. I left the library pocket and card that is glued in the back of the book. I did not want to damage it further. Some of the pages are yellowed or browned. There are no marks in it that I can see. No rips or tears. There are quite a few black and white illustrations. I believe this book had gilding on the edges. Some of the pages are a little stiff. From the looks of it, I don't think it was read very much. Book weighs 1lb.12oz. Please ask if you would like more pictures. Please look at all pictures. I am not a dealer. I am a retired teacher who has way too much stuff. I need to downsize. Any proceeds from this sale are going to help my son and daughter-in-law try in-vitro fertilization. They have been married 7 years and this is the only way they can have children.
