Framed E.S. Curtis Photogravure Print Plate #2 1905 Geronimo Print - $10,000 - (St. Cloud, FL)
I have this Edward .S. Curtis print of Geronimo, the historically noted War Chief of the Apache Indian. It is a rare print sepia tone photogravure side view portrait of legendary Apache War Chief Geronimo, done in 1905, shortly before Geronimo's death at the age of 75. The print is on tissue style print paper, and is done from the original photograph of E.S. Curtis, noted American photographer of the southwest and the Indians way of life. This print measures 10&1/2" by 15&1/2" is museum grade mounted and framed. It is marked by E.S. Curtis dated 1907 and printed by John Andrews & Sons also marked "Plate 2" as this was part of a series originally offered for sale in a portfolio binder by Curtis. This image has a slight condition problem, having two tiny holes in the print surface which does distract from the sale condition. Otherwise, the tone, sharpness and quality of the print is excellent. In the research done I contacted Sotheby's for auction records achieved by this print in past sales. The pin holes are now posted with both in one pic and two individual close ups. the location is in the bottom left quarter. Enclosed is a photo of the estimate from February 2007 I am selling this on other sites and will remove this when it sells.
