Manillas were a form of money used by Europeans and North and South Americans for trade in West Africa from the 16th to early 20th century. This one measures just under 2.5 x 2.5 inches, is solid bronze, and was made in the 18th or 19th century. Excellent condition with normal casting marks and a natural, untouched patina. The item has been carefully stored for almost 50 years. Ships well protected.
