A large Taino carved wood Cohoba idol for the cohoba ritual. The figure carved in a strong realistic rendering. Emphasis on anatomy suggesting its use in funerary rites or in the Cohoba ritual as a representation of the behique (shaman) who underwent a strict diet and purging ritual before taking the drug. The base has a wide open hole probably to be suspended in a large wood stick. Ca. 1450-1550 A.D.
