Rare American EDGAR BRITTON Mid Century Modern Walnut Door 1962 - $8,950 - (Denver, CO)

A vintage, mid century modern single door by American artist Edgar Britton, with eight small windows of varying, quadrilateral shapes. The wide door surround is carved with a sun, two birds, leaves, fish, the moon and a star, Zonta Chapel, a horse and turtle. The surround retains the original black and grey baseboard. The handle is carved is a Z-shape. Born in Nebraska, Edgar Britton was a painter, muralist and sculptor. He worked in Iowa with Grant Wood from 1920-24 and then moved to Chicago in 1925, where he worked on various architectural commissions. Due to health reasons he moved to Colorado in 1942 where he remained until his death.
