RARE Vintage Universal Velocity Microphone - 1930's! Working with stand & cable - $430 - (Pleasant Hill, CA)
What a find! A rare and WORKING 1930's UNIVERSAL DYNAMIC MICROPHONE. This mic was originally outfitted with a carbon button pickup element which was no longer working, and has been replaced and updated with a new hi-z moving coil dynamic pickup. Now the sound is somewhat improved (and louder) while still retaining that "old school" audio quality. The casing is overall in very presentable condition with only some slight signs of patina on the chromed elements. There are no cracks or defects, and the side thumbscrews hold the tilt angle firmly in position. The mic is cradled in it's original chromed yoke and attached to a nice period-correct fluted and very heavy-based cast iron desk stand. The stand can telescope an additional 4" taller and held in place by a side set screw, with large felt pads under the stand protect your desktop. The mic has a 3 pin Amphenol output port and I am including a short cable which terminates with a 3 pin male XLR plug. This mic is ready to plug and play. Overall weight just over 4 pounds. **Always safe packing and fast shipping. *The Universal Microphone Company was located in Inglewood, Southern California, close to the budding Hollywood film industry that was fresh into the sound phase of motion pictures. They produced microphones and sound equipment in the 1930's.
