An Original Antique Map of ALASKA from George Cram's FAMILY ATLAS of the WORLD, published 1889. The coastline of ALASKA had been known for nearly a century at the time, but just prior to the ALASKA Gold Rush only a few interior rivers and The ALASKA MNTS were charted. A map of NORTH AMERICA is on the reverse side. Cram almost never dated his maps only the atlas. The 1889 date was printed only on the title page and I have pencilled the date lightly in the margin of each map. Map measures 11 by 13 1/2 inches.
