Original - Primitive Antique Bird Trap / Cage100+ Year Old | Handmade | Invention from Indonesia 10 1/2" H x 10 1/2" W This is an actual primitive trap that was used to lure birds. This cage is very well made and in great original condition with rustic patina. The trap cage lifts up and there is a metal circle mechanism used to keep it open until a bird enters. It is made out of a mix of wood, bamboo and wire. I purchased it while living in Bali and hand-carried it back to America. It came from a small shop in Mas Village (known as the woodcarving village), near Ubud. I was told by the owner this was part of his family's collection from relatives who lived on the island of Java in Indonesia. It is between 100-120 years old. All parts appear to be intact along with a primitive hook up top to hang from a tree. Two bamboo side mounted containers hold food for the decoy bird inside the cage. This apparently trapped many birds. Thanks for looking. It's a very cool invention and example of try handmade Indonesian craftsmanship and design. To ensure it arrives in good condition, I need to double box this. It will also be wrapped well in bubble wrap.
