Vintage Folding Handy Metal Rug Loom - $35 - (Berlin Center, OH)
Greetings! Offered for sale is a vintage "The Folding Handy rug Loom". This is a coated metal tabletop rug loom with instructions printed on the loom. We purchased this loom at an estate sale this past fall and it is in excellent condition--ready to use. For the up-cycler, this is a great way to use up fabric or cloth scraps. From the directions, it looks like it would make some great rugs using leftover denim. Please see pictures for more details! Directions:1) Set up frame as show above.2) Place two balls of cord on post 6.3) Tie two ends of cord together and place them in clip-post 2.4) Place the cords in clip-post 5, one in each clip5) Keep both cords from clip-post 2 to clip post 5 fairly taut.6) Take lengths of about 3" of yarn or rag material like old silk stockings or dresses and underwear make with each strip loops as show in 4.7) If rag material is used cut the material bias into 1/2" widths and 3" lengths.8) Take each length and form loops over cords as show at 4.9) Keep loop loose around cords, slide same to 3 then tighten same.10) continue looping until cords from 2 to 5 are near filled.11) Lift looped part and cords from its clip posts, unwind from balls about 10" of cord, pull the looped part towards outside of post 2, leave 1/2" of looped part inside of clip post 2. Set It in clip post 2 and each cord in its respective clip on post 5 in a fairly taut position and keep on looping. when you will have looped a few inches, you begin to form your rugs and sew it together with stron soft cotton in the manner shown below.
