Vintage Seth Thomas Helmsman Ship Ships Military Naval Time Clock E537-001 WORKS - $200 - (Sweetwater, TN)

Working Seth Thomas Helmsman-W E537-001, Talley Industries Company, Thomaston Connecticut USA, Ships Clock. Measures approx: 9" from spoke tip to spoke tip, 5 1/4" across the brass & glass face plate, 5 3/4" across the back plate area, and 4 1/2" across the face without the cover/door. Ship clocks are designed so the striking mechanism strikes 8 times at the 12:00, 4:00, and 8:00. They strike 1 time at the 12:30, 4:30, and 8:30. They strike 2 times at the 1:00, 5:00 and 9:00 . . . and so on. This clock works perfectly and keeps time. All original with strike/silent selection. Still has original plastic insert ring for over clock face prior to attaching glass face plate/door. It has some wear to the finish (I say wear, because there is no pitting or bubbling; it is smooth so I don't believe it to be rust). The wear to the gold finish is on top of the clock and to one spoke. Keep in mind that the pictures are very, very close up. Since the pictures, I have changed the spokes around, and now the wear to the spoke cannot be seen from the front. In fact, from the front, signs of any finish wear cannot be seen. As with any vintage item, there are extremely minor signs of wear. Can be hung on a wall or displayed on a rack (I used a plate or picture display support from the Dollar Tree for $1). Please ask all questions prior to purchasing. I am not a clock expert. My parents collected and cared for clocks. I will be making a few listings each month to decrease their enormous collection.
