Here we have offered for sale is this Antique Silvered Brass French Boxed Equinoctial Dial, in a polished wood case with a crushed blue velvet liner. The instrument has an insert compass with a half blued steel bar needle, 360 degree scale, engraved along the circumference with the hours of the clock from I to VIII and IIII to XII for the Northern Latitudes, and IIII to XII and VIII to I for the Southern Latitudes, and calibrated from 10 to 80. The instrument has three leveling legs and a level bubble, in a polished rosewood case, eight directions, 360 degree scale, with folding hour ring, set against a latitude arc engraved with full quadrant of degrees. The compass is calibrated to every 10 degrees. BCD110/ We believe the circa to be 1810,The instrument measures 5 1/4" in diameter. The fitted box measures 6 1/4" square in diameter.
