Our host Regina Hall brought us through the major television, music video and collaboration moments that brought hip hop into the mainstream.It was a night full of incredible performances, hilarious moments and touching tributes that honored the game changers who made hip hop's crossover possible. Mariah Carey was honored by DJ Khaled and his son Asahd for her genre-crossing hip hop collaborations, and performed one of her greatest hits "Honey" with Da Brat, Jermaine Dupri, The Lox and Mase. Jermaine Dupri and Master P were honored for their contributions to the rise of southern rap with a medley of "Nann," "Make Em Say Uhh!"and "Just Kickin' It" performed by Trick Daddy, Trina, Silkk the Shocker and Xscape. For his ground-breaking sitcom 'Martin,' Martin Lawrence was tributed by co-star Tichina Arnold and comedians Affion Crockett, Lamorne Morris and host Regina Hall. Director Hype Williamswas honored by Pharrell Williams for his contributions to the elevation of music videos.
