Lg Civil War Era Pocket Watch Style Gold Locket, Engine Turned, ANTEBELLUM Image - $75 - (Glendora, CA)

Large Civil War era pocket watch style locket with a large ring bail. This antique, double-sided locket has a luminous finish and matching engine-turned design both front and back. Inside the locket is a circa 1850s Antebellum tintype of a middle aged, somber faced woman with hand tinted pink cheeks. She is wearing hoop earrings, and a brooch at the high collar of her gingham or checked dress. This image is secured beneath a pane of glass with a metal bezel. In the other half of the locket is the original pressed paper mat. This locket is gold in color (likely gilt brass) and is large--the body of the locket is 1 1/2" diameter and the total height including the ring bail is 2 3/16". This locket is in very good condition for its 150+ years, opening properly and snapping tightly shut. On the front are a few pinpoint sized dints. On the back are a couple of tiny dings and a somewhat larger outward facing ding at the center. Otherwise the surface of the locket is very nice, very clean, with only faint wear. *** Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE AR-SA If you have any questions please feel free to ask as we do not do returns.
